Just so everyone knows, I totally snagged this from </strong></a></b></strong></a>[info]utkari02. She gets all the great stuff!

man walks into a drug store with his 8-year old son. They happen to walk
by the condom display, and the boy asks, 'What are these, Dad? To which
the man matter-of-factly replies,

'Those are called condoms, son. Men use them to have safe sex.'

'Oh I see,' replied the boy pensively. Yes, I've heard of that in health class
at school.' He looks over the display and picks up a package of 3 and asks,
'Why are there 3 in this package?'

The dad replies, 'Those are for high school boys, ONE for Friday, ONE for
Saturday, and ONE for Sunday.'

'Cool' says the boy. He notices a 6 pack and asks, 'Then who are these for?'

'Those are for college men,' the dad answers, TWO for Friday, TWO for
Saturday, and TWO for Sunday.'

'WOW!' exclaimed the boy, 'then who uses THESE?' he asks, picking
up a 12 pack.

With a sigh and a tear in his eye, the dad replied, 'Those are for married
men. ONE for January, ONE for February, ONE for March.....'

A Charity I would like to start...

  • Jan. 7th, 2009 at 6:23 PM
drama hangover
So, I was bored today at work and noticed that the new Bazaar Magazines were in for January and Februrary. I looked through them and quite frankly, I felt absolutely glad of the weight that I have. I mean, yes, I could lose a bit for health reasons, but at least I LOOK healthy. These girls in the magazines are NOTHING but skin and bones... I mean, I wonder if when they walk they actually hear their bones rub together.

And these poor girls look so sad. Their eyes are so lifeless... no matter how much make up they have on and clothes or whatever... they look so unhealthy. As if they are dying or already dead. I just want to invite these girls over and FEED them. Can we start a charity called FEED the models?

I hope if there is a young woman reading this she will realize that these women starve themselves for a pereception of beauty that is stark, unrealistic, dark, and unhealthy. This is not beauty. In my opinion, it is depravity. I'm not saying go out there and have all the Mickey D's you want... but... enjoy life. And look healthy. These girls look like they would break if they started to run. They are just so brittle and lifeless... I would rather read a magazine that has someone earthy, full of life and energy, and someone that is REAL.

Jace Quote- Love you in the next life
Hello Everyone... I really don't have anything going on lately. I think I'm battling a flu bug, and so far I've been winning by just barely staying ahead. There's nothing exciting going on. Have you ever had the feeling that something big was just around the corner and you just didn't know what? I've been excited and anxious for a couple of days now and I have no idea why. It's like I'm sitting on the back of a roller coaster and I can't see the upcoming drop but I just know it's gonna be a big one because of the climb. I feel as if my cart is chugging and chugging up and I'm waiting for it drop... Does anyone else ever get like that??? Or am I just weird.

All I have to say is that I hope the drop is a good one... a very good one... Could anyone blame if it I hoped it was winning the lottery???? And I also hope that it isn't my car breaking down..................

Julie Walters- Mamma Mia!

  • Dec. 24th, 2008 at 1:47 PM
weasleys
I love musicals which is why I decided to rent Mamma Mia last night. I have been excited to see the movie and was so ecstatic that I finally got to watch it. Even if the movie had bombed, which it didn't, I knew it would be wonderful because of the fact that Pierce Bronsnan was singing and dancing.

What I was unprepared for was the surprising and wonderful performance of Julie Walters, also known as Molly Weasley from the HP franchise. She was also in Becoming Jane as Jane Austen's mother. I've seen her in "motherly" roles and to see her singing, dancing, and acting silly was so wonderful. I must confess that I found myself watching her performance more closely than that of Meryl Streep and Pierce.

Maybe it was because of my HP geekiness, but I couldn't take my eyes off her performance. It was the same for me as watching Alan Rickman in Sweeney Todd. His performance was absolutely amazing and so unlike anything I had seen him do before that. I just love, love LOVE musicals and I love it when actors surprise me. I love it when I recognize them and then I forget who they are because they make me see the person they are playing. And then afterwards, I want to meet the person just to see how they are in real life.

If you haven't seen either musical, then I suggest you must do so as soon as possible. They were both wonderful....

Oh, and one more thing. I don't believe that Julie Walters is old enough to be my grandmother, but I loved seeing her dancing on tables and flirting heavily just as I know my grandmother would do. They remind me so much of each other.... It was great. GO SEE IT!

Jace Quote- Love you in the next life
I got this today un my email!
Girlie Wisdom!

1. A friend of mine confused her Valium with her birth control pills... she has 14 kids but doesn't really care.

2. One of life's mysteries is how a 2-pound box of chocolates can make a woman gain 5 lbs.

3. My mind not only wanders, it sometimes leaves completely.

4. The best way to forget your troubles is to wear tight shoes.

5. The nice part about living in a small town is that when you don't know what you are doing, someone else does.

6. The older you get, the tougher it is to lose weight because by then, your body and your fat are really good friends.

7. Just when I was getting used to yesterday, along came today.

8. Sometimes I think I understand everything, and then I regain consciousness.

9. I gave up jogging for my health when my thighs kept rubbing together and setting fire to my knicker's.

10. Amazing!  You hang something in your closet for a while and it shrinks 2 sizes!

11. Skinny people irritate me!  Especially when they say things like...'You know sometimes I forget to eat!' .....Now I've forgotten my address, my mother's maiden name and my keys, but I have never forgotten to eat.  You have to be a special kind of stupid to forget to eat!

12. The trouble with some women is that they get all excited about nothing and then they marry him.

13. I read this article that said the typical symptoms of stress are eating too much, impulse buying, and driving too fast. Are they kidding?  That's my idea of a perfect day!

City of Glass Contest!!!!!!

bad ass
AHHHH... I'm soooo excited!!!!! Cassandra Clare, the author of the Mortal Instruments series, is giving away an Advance Reader Copy of City of Glass, her last installment of the Mortal Instruments that is not coming out until March, in a contest... I HAVE SOME WONDERFUL IDEAS... The trouble is, I can't think of what material to best use to make a city of Glass. I don't want to use glass because, well, it's hard to manipulate unless you know what you're doing and it's uber expensive. I'm trying to make a model of each of the cities for one of the categories and that's the one I'm kind of stumped on. I know I've got some crafty (not in the bad crafty way but the good artsy crafty way) friends on here and I'm hitting you guys up for ideas on what to use for a glass city. So... whatchya guys got for me???

Determination and Grit

Jace Quote- Love you in the next life

Hi everyone! I had this idea for a little one shot ficlet based in the HP world. I've decided to share it with all of you. I have a friend of mine that some you might know by the name of </a></font></b></a>[info]countessmary. She was having some frustration last week with a job situation and I haven't been able to get it out of my mind. I've dedicated this little piece to her and I hope everyone enjoys it.

Title: Determination and Grit
Fandom: Harry Potter
Rating: PG
Word Count: 1200+

A Note from the Author: A friend of mine let me know about her frustration on getting a job right now. Many of us are feeling the crunch of the economy and job issues whether we have jobs are we have parents that do. After talking to her for a bit, I had this idea of Hermione wanting  a job at the Ministry. I think it's a good idea to see a bit of determination and grit in a time where we all are competing for a better situation than we are currently experiencing. So, this is for my friend, Mary, and for all others out there who are feeling this crunch. May you all enjoy this story and get something from it.
